Taipei, Taiwan. – 1 March 2024 – Taiwanese e-bike system manufacturer Hyena has introduced its inaugural mid-drive system, the UniDrive 70. This move signifies the company’s strategic expansion into the broader e-bike mainstream market, building upon its reputation for highly integrated hub drive systems and advanced digital services.
Continuing Lightweight Design
The UniDrive 70 weighs less than 2.4 kg and delivers a peak output torque of 70Nm. It boasts a compact design, with a 15% to 30% reduction in volume compared to similar systems in its class. Its shorter axle length reduces the Q-factor to 171mm, aligning with Hyena’s commitment to lightweight and compact design principles. This makes it suitable for various terrains, including city, trekking, road, and gravel bikes.
Hyena has also introduced the BS-B540+ integrated battery, compatible with the UniDrive 70, along with the new color screen HMI Vivid Series. The BS-B540 battery features a user-friendly design, offering a large capacity of 540Wh and the option to extend the e-bike’s travel range with a range extender.
Enhanced Software and Services
Hyena’s cloud-based software services cover the entire e-bike lifespan, catering to bicycle brands, developers, and manufacturers. With the launch of the new drivetrain products, the company has announced the software deployment of developer tools, new manufacturer and dealer support tools, and the introduction of new features for brand tools. Additionally, Hyena has established new physical service bases in North America and Europe to enhance local customer technology and after-sales service.
New Brand Initiatives
The debut of Hyena’s latest product offerings will take place at Taipei Cycle 2024, coinciding with the company’s tenth anniversary since its establishment in 2013. Reflecting its evolution and strategic vision towards smart connectivity in e-bikes, Hyena will unveil updates to its logo and visual identity at the event.
